Military Discipline

Discipline is essential to successful learning and living in God’s world.  Chamberlain-Hunt Academy uses a military structure of discipline that is demanding.  While it provides immediate consequences for infractions, it also rewards achievement.  Discipline, rightly structured, teaches the positive side of humility and weakness:  that one can and should rely on God’s strength and loving-kindness available through Jesus the Messiah.  The Academy’s military structure does not prevent the cadets from having fun or engaging a wide variety of physical and cultural pursuits.

Truly, CHA aims to prepare its cadets to live a full life pleasing to the Lord Jesus.  Proverbs 3:5-6 is CHA’s theme verse:

"Trust in the Lord with all your heart; lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him and he will direct your paths."

Since the purpose of life is to love and obey God, the Academy acknowledges God's authority and loving-kindness in every facet of life.  For CHA cadets, these include academics, military structure, athletics and all extracurricular activities. Therefore, the Academy strives to equip and encourage cadets to live a purposeful life by providing them an environment that is conducive to godly pursuits.

Within the military model, development of leadership qualities is stressed.  Its structural hierarchy naturally demands leadership skills.  Within that hierarchy, cadets can earn leadership positions in the Corps and the Crusaders.

The cadets can demonstrate leadership potential during physical training and organizational training exercises as well as in the classroom and dorm.  The Sergeant Major conducts regular inspections of the dormitories to ensure their cleanliness.

The structure also rewards cadets with a 3.0 GPA or higher for their academic achievement.  Such rewards include free weekends and private study hall among others.
